The checklist

Every peak card has a box marked CLIMBED. The four aces are the checklist, with a box to tick for each summit you stand on. The king of spades is Mount Washington, 6,288 feet, number 1 of the 48.

The taller peak wins.

It is also a trick-taking game for 3 to 6 players, printed on a rules card in every deck. In each suit the king is tallest and the 2 lowest; all spades stand above all hearts, hearts above diamonds, diamonds above clubs. So the higher card is always the higher mountain. The jokers are weather: a joker played to a trick hands it to the lowest peak.

One trick: Mount Washington (6,288 ft) beats Mount Lafayette (5,260 ft) and Mount Garfield (4,500 ft).
